About Database
Fusarium corresponds to diverse genus of filamentous fungi which represents significant proportion of the soil microbial community. Members of the genus Fusarium signify the most significant group of fungal plant pathogens which are casual agents of many different diseases of almost all economically important plant species. They also impose health risk to humans and livestock by the formation of Fusarium mycotoxins.
Besides their harmful effects, certain species of this genus are employed as model organism in biological and evolutionary research. Members of the F. oxysporum group demonstrate extraordinary genetic plasticity and lead to critical and dangerous diseases in different economically important plants, e.g. tomato, cotton, melonis, banana etc.
